LOUISQUISSET PIKE BRIDGE DESIGN BUILD

Project Overview

Louisquisset Pike Bridge, which carries Route 146 over Route 116 and was originally constructed in 1942, had reached the end of its service life and was rated as structurally deficient with significant load-carrying elements in poor condition. Additionally, the ramp configurations for drivers interchanging between Routes 146 and 116 were a safety hazard and did not meet AASHTO design standards. The project design provided a safer interchange that replaces the substandard back-to-back Route 146 SB ramps with a new signalized interchange. The new interchange configuration decreased the bridge footprint, saving RIDOT future maintenance costs
